Sheep maybe..... singing..... bad rugby..... for me it's rain ! And yep, day dawned wet, dark and chilly.
We had to be done in good time today to visit a lodge so planned to start a bit earlier than normal. That soon got shelved for 20 minutes whilst waiting for a storm to pass through. So on the road for 7:20 and using the National Cycling Route No. 5. Well, when I say No. 5, that'll be Cycle Route 5 in Wales but ycle Route 3 in England - don't you just love politics !
The reason for using this route is that it tracks across North Wales and means you don't have to use the A55. And what an wonderful route it is. Most of it is freshly surfaced so is really smooth and there are elaborate bridges to cross the A55 in places. It is a wonderful amenity for any cyclist in the area and when I was on it - empty ! So with the wind finally from behind I could get some quick miles in and was done by 11:00. That meant I had time for a big fry up in the Petrol Heads Cafe - boy did that hit the spot !
We'd only planned to do 50 miles so we could get back for a lodge meeting. It was my last one in charge so obviously couldn't miss it. We had a great evening with great company and also added nearly another £300 to the pot.
We got finished soon after 10pm but by the time I'd stopped
